Community Connections

Our members invest in our community in many ways. We have been actively involved with these community groups and activities for many years:

  • The Alameda Business Association which serves the local business community and sponsors a variety of special events.

  • The Capernaum Project, a ministry of Young Life reaching out to disabled young people with caring and a wide range of activities. Contact Nick Polermo, Capernaum Director, at (408) 286-3207 for more information. Also, check out the Capernaum website at http://www.capernaum-project.org/

  • San Jose Family Shelter, where members from our congregation prepare a meal every month.

  • Second Harvest Food Bank - http://www.secondharvestsjca.org - which provides food to those in need. Volunteers participate in the Brown Bag food distribution at our church every Tuesday. Every first Sunday of the month, our congregation accepts special offerings of non-perishable food during worship for the Second Harvest Food Bank.

  • Shasta/Hanchett Park Neighborhood Association links us directly with the interests and activities of our closest neighbors.

  • Silicon Valley Habitat for Humanity builds low cost housing for people in need. Our members have participated in the teams who build the houses, and have provided support in other ways, like providing lunch for a team of builders.
